WD-2A: Graphic Design for Desktop Web page

This module produces the graphic design for desktop web page. A draft must be submitted , reviewed & commented on before final work is started.

Skill Set Required

1. Photoshop, GIMP or other image editing software that is able to save designs as a PSD file.

2. FTP client like FileZilla

Freelancer will be provided with

1. A link to the Prototype Website

2. Required Call to action (the action we want the visitors to do)

3. Prominent messages to be displayed

4. Infomation that must be displayed on the page

5. Server FTP Login details

6. XYZ Directories approved list of sources of Images

7. Server pages and code to display designs see here

Design Requirements:

1. Fixed width Image 1200 pixels, Fixed width Foreground 980 pixels

2. Use google fonts see: google fonts

3. Use standard web fonts detailed see: standard fonts

4. Notes on which fonts have been used and where they have been used on the design.

5. All the Images used in the design must be from XYZ Directories approved list of sources. However, the designer may use Free or Paid images from other sources also ; but in that case the designer has to intimate XYZ Directories about the source and after XYZ Directories look at the source and decide to put it in the approved list, the images from the source may be used.

Work Stages & Submission of Work

Stage 1.
   (i) Produce draft design with background width 1200 pixels & foreground width 980 pixels.
   (ii) Images - Provide a list of all images used , with links to the sources under Free and Paid
   categories separately. At this stage, show the Paid category images with water marks and
   these will be replaced with the procured images at the next stage.
   (iii) Upload draft design as pageX.jpg to the server.
   (iv) Additional pages/versions/variations are to be uploaded as page(X+1).jpg more info

Stage 2. Upon approval of the draft design the following must also be uploaded to the server:
(i) A description of the fonts used in a file named fonts.txt
(ii) All the graphic design work contained in a PSD file named design.psd
(iii) The procured Paid category images replacing the stage 1 images with water marks

Draft Testing:

1. pageX.jpg has been uploaded to the server

2. Image width 1200 pixels & foreground width 980 pixels.

Final Testing:

1. pageX.jpg has been uploaded to the server

2. Image width 1200 pixels & foreground width 980 pixels.

3. fonts.txt uploaded to server

4. design.psd uploaded to server

Timelines

Unless otherwise stated

1. The Draft work will be submitted by the Freelancer by uploading in the server, within 7 working days of receipt of the Order, for comments and acceptance by XYZ Directories.

2. XYZ Directories will send back comments and acceptance of the Draft work or otherwise, within next 10 working days.

3. The Final work will be submitted by the Freelancer by uploading in the server, within 5 working days of receipt of the acceptance of the Draft work.

4. XYZ Directories will check the submitted Final work and will inform their acceptance or otherwise within 7 working days.

Reporting

The Freelancer will report on the status of assignment briefly every 3 days to their manager preferably through e mail or, over phone in exceptional situations.
